Choosing a rail

Should I use the Shopify app or the portal?

The Shopify app if the freight belongs to a Shopify order and you want it priced from the order page. The portal if you don’t sell on Shopify, or if the people quoting freight — showroom reps, inside sales, ops — don’t work in your Shopify admin. Same carriers, same rates, same Bill of Lading, but separate accounts with separate sign-ins.

Do I need carrier accounts with CEVA, Alliance, or AIT?

No. ShipEasy is an FMCSA-licensed freight broker (MC‑1483730). We hold the carrier relationships and handle rating and tendering, so there’s no carrier-side setup on your end and no volume commitment.

What it costs

How does billing work?

One charge per Bill of Lading, on the all-in price you were shown before you confirmed. In Shopify it’s a one-time charge you approve in Shopify’s native billing prompt, and it lands on your normal Shopify invoice. In the portal you pay by card. No subscription either way — see pricing.

Can the price change after I’ve been quoted?

Before you book — the quote holds for 72 hours, or until the carrier’s own expiry if that comes first. We re-rate the lane when you start the booking and again immediately before we tender it; if the carrier’s price has moved by even a cent, the booking stops and says so rather than charging the difference.

After pickup — a carrier may reweigh, remeasure or reclassify the freight against what was declared. If that happens the charge is adjusted in either direction within 60 days on the payment method on file, you are notified, and you have 30 days to dispute it. That is the only way the number changes after you confirm, and you acknowledge it at booking. See Terms § 8.3.

Can I cancel a shipment after booking?

More than one business day before pickup we cancel with the carrier and refund automatically. Inside that window the request goes to our team, because the carrier may already have dispatched. If a carrier rejects a shipment after you’ve paid, the charge is refunded automatically.

The shipment

Does this replace my parcel shipping app?

No. ShipEasy is for LTL freight — pallets, crates, large items. For parcel (UPS, FedEx, USPS) keep your existing app. We don’t print parcel labels.

What documents do I get?

The carrier’s Bill of Lading, plus a PRO number and a public tracking link. The BOL is the carrier’s own document, not a template we filled in for them. We don’t generate packing slips or manifests.

Where do you ship?

The contiguous 48 US states plus DC, priced in USD. Alaska, Hawaii, and international freight are on the roadmap.

Is the freight insured?

Shipments move under the carrier’s standard liability. We don’t sell cargo insurance or declared-value coverage, so if you need more than carrier liability, arrange it separately. Damage claims can be raised from the booking and we handle them with the carrier.

Security and data

Is customer information protected?

Yes. Personally identifiable fields — names, addresses, contact info — are encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM with a per-environment key. Carrier API calls are made over TLS, and we only retain what’s required to ship the order. Two-factor sign-in is available on the portal, and you can export everything we hold for your organization at any time. Details in our Privacy Policy and DPA.

Can I get my data out?

Yes, without asking us. Both the Shopify app and the portal have a self-serve export that emails you a single CSV bundle of everything held for your shop or organization — quotes, shipments, charges and addresses. The link expires after 30 days.

Install it into Shopify in about five minutes. Or request a portal account for your team — a person reviews that one, so it takes a little longer.
